Tourist information
Britain:
The British Tourist Authority advises contacting each individual tourist attraction as there is no national number for national tourist enquiries. However, this weblink has links to the major tourist boards http://www.visitbritain.com and this one is a good source of attractions to visit once your destination is chosen http://www.aboutbritain.com
A site set up for Americans wishing to visit "real" Britain and Ireland gives information about places in the UK that are "different". The site is maintained by a woman in Philadelphia who submits "field reports" after her own visits. Disability laws are much stricter in the US so there is a lot of useful information for the "physically challenged". http://www.undiscoveredbritain.com
London: The official internet site for London http://www.londontown.com The Celebrate Millennium London Pass includes discounts for hotels, restaurants and attractions. A second pass, The London Pass, is a single price pass to 50 attractions. It is valid for 1, 2, 3 or 6 days. Buckingham Palace tickets (open August to October 2000) are also available via http://www.royal.gov.uk
