Sexual Function in Men Older Than 50 Years of Age

Questionnaires mailed in 2000 to 31 742 men, age 53 to 90 years, asked about sexual function, physical activity, body weight, smoking, marital status, medical conditions, and medications. Several modifiable health behaviours were associated with maintenance of good erectile function, even after comorbid conditions were considered. Lifestyle factors most strongly associated with erectile dysfunction were physical activity and leanness.

Male menopause is a myth

A new study of 1,700 men has found that there is no evidence for the existence of a male menopause. Testosterone levels in men drop too slowly to cause menopausal symptoms. The scientists conducting the study concluded that men who gain weight in middle age would be better off exercising and watching their diets rather than taking hormone pills.
